The fare on a search-results page is one part of a trip budget. A useful comparison asks a more specific question: what will this same group pay for the same journey, with the bags and transport it will actually use?

Fix the scope first

Choose one-way or return, the same travel dates, the same number of travellers and comparable start and end points. For a return trip, every amount you enter must cover both directions. The workbook does not automatically double a fare or a transfer.

Use EUR for every amount. If a quote uses another currency, convert it yourself before entering it and keep a note of the rate, date and any conversion fee. This worksheet does not fetch exchange rates or live prices.

Separate people from shared costs

The ticket input is per person for the whole selected journey. The workbook multiplies it by the traveller count. If passengers have different fares, divide the total ticket price by the number of travellers and enter that average.

Baggage and flight extras are group totals. Add only the bags and extras the group will buy, including all flight legs. Do not multiply a group baggage charge by the traveller count again.

Ground transport has two fields: a per-person amount for individual tickets, and a shared group amount for costs such as one taxi or one shuttle booking. Parking and other group costs have their own fields. Add costs at both ends of the journey where they fall inside your comparison.

Choose a transport plan, not every possible option

Compare a rail plan against a driving plan as separate offers if necessary. Do not add a taxi and parking merely because both are available. Use multiple transport categories together only when they describe different, necessary parts of the route you chose, such as a train plus a shared onward taxi. Record that plan beside the offer.

Resolve each category honestly

Use Known with a verified amount, Not needed with an empty amount or zero, or Unknown when you still need a quote. A blank Known amount is incomplete. A positive amount marked Not needed is also incomplete, so a contradictory entry cannot silently disappear.

The sheet displays a known subtotal while information is missing. That is not a final trip total. Only complete offers receive a group total, a per-person total and a difference from the lowest complete offer. Equal lowest totals are labelled as a tie. With only one complete offer, the sheet says so rather than declaring a winner.

Keep time and comfort beside the money

Write down departure and arrival times, airport changes, transfer duration, connections and ticket restrictions. The workbook does not put a cash value on lost time or comfort. A EUR 7 difference can be useful information without deciding which journey suits you.

Find quotes, then compare them here

Recheck your selected itinerary and the final checkout total before paying. Quotes, availability and included services can change.
