About & Method
How Route & Receipt calculates complete group flight costs, handles unknowns and keeps hypothetical examples separate from live quotes.
Route & Receipt publishes practical worksheets for comparing the full cost of a trip. This first resource helps travellers compare flight options from or to Germany using the same journey, party size and cost categories.
It is an independent worksheet project from the publisher of Idraaak. It is not an official German service, travel agency, flight search engine or booking service. There is no invented travel team or claimed personal flight test behind these examples.
The calculation
Group total = (fare per person × travellers) + group baggage + group flight extras + (individual ground tickets per person × travellers) + shared ground transport + parking + other group journey costs.
Average per person = group total ÷ travellers. The group total is rounded to cents first. The displayed per-person average is also rounded to cents, so multiplying that displayed average can differ by a cent from the group total.
Cost difference = a complete offer's group total − the lowest complete group total. The comparison excludes incomplete offers. Equal lowest totals are labelled as a tie. One complete offer is labelled Only complete offer.
Time, comfort and restrictions remain notes alongside the calculation. The workbook assigns no monetary value or score to them.
What counts as complete?
The shared setup needs a valid journey scope and a whole traveller count from 1 to 50. An offer needs a name and seven resolved cost categories. Known needs a numeric, non-negative amount. Optional Not needed categories accept an empty amount or zero. Unknown, missing Known amounts and contradictory Not needed amounts stay unresolved.
Readiness validates these inputs. It cannot verify the quote, confirm equivalent airports or detect every possible duplicated fee. You must describe a consistent itinerary and chosen transport plan, include all relevant costs within that scope and recheck the final provider total.
Sources of the numbers
Users enter their own quotes. The workbook has no live data connections, exchange-rate feed or price guarantees. The two examples are hypothetical teaching data created for this project. They are not airline offers or evidence of a particular saving rate.
The file contains no macros. Core formulas were checked by changing inputs for solo and group travel, shared costs, unnecessary baggage, unknown and contradictory amounts, zero values and equal totals. The exported file was reopened and its example totals checked in the available spreadsheet engine. A native Microsoft Excel run was not available during production.
Release and maintenance
Release 1.0 · issued 21 October 2026. The website explanations and the downloadable workbook use the same examples. Quotes can change at any time, independently of this release date.
The worksheet covers the costs you enter within its categories. It does not forecast disruption, exchange rates or future prices. It does not send your entered trip details to this website. Download a fresh original copy when you want a blank comparison.
AI tools assisted with drafting, spreadsheet construction and checks. No fictional personal travel experience, testimonials or current price claims are presented as evidence.
